Ken's knowledge and heart for missions and God's workers was extraordinary. He regularly supported them both financially and prayerfully. His prayer lists stood 4 inches high, and he faithfully used them daily. If he said he would pray for you he did.  He prayed for the sick before breakfast.  He prayed people he knew and family friends after breakfast.  After lunch it was the turn of Missions and Missionaries.  After tea Ken prayed for any in need of salvation and for those who he felt needed extra prayer.

Ken loved to give hospitality, particularly to those in real need.  Towards the end of his life he spent his whole days in prayer and meditation.

Ken’s name first appears in the minutes 5th March 1986.  He had written to the then secretary Miss Eileen Luffman on behalf of the Scripture Text Display Society of Manchester.  This society was hoping to be able to cooperate with BTPM.  In the minutes of 14th May 1986 Treasurer Peter Grant regarded the financial position of STDS as precarious.  He was worried that BTPM would acquire responsibility for sites that had no financial support.  The minutes of 10th September of the same year record that Ken joined the meeting at the end of item 5 in company of a Mr Lloyd of STDS.  (Did they keep them waiting outside we wonder?)  A detailed discussion followed.  The most positive thing that came out of this was the decision that Ken ‘maintain interest in our mission in the Manchester area where we had some sites’.  STDS was wound up in July 1987 and residual monies passed to the BTPM.  The minutes of 1st April 1987 contain an apology from Ken saying that he would try to attend at least once a year.  From then on his name appears as attending every Council Meeting the Mission held.  Ken travelled to London four times a year from Stockport at his own expense for the period 1988 to 2006.  Correspondence from the early period of his association with us shows a great deal of letter writing by Ken to secure financial support for BTPM in the North. In the 1989/1990 Annual report Ken’s name appears for the first time at the end of the list of officers as Northern Area Representative.  For a short time he was not regarded as an official member of the Council.   It is in the 1991/92 report that he appears for the first time as a full council member.  The minutes of 18th January 1999 record the appointing of Ken as Chairman of the Mission.  At the same time Council Meetings moved to the Chaplain’s Office, Euston courtesy of Rev Miles Mitson.  He fulfilled his duties with diligence establishing a working fellowship with Trevor Argent, who was then the Administrator.  Ken often went off for the day to check that our posters were actually being displayed.  If his wife Pat was going anywhere near a poster site she was asked to check a) that the poser was actually displayed and b) that it had not been defaced in any way.  On these journeys Ken liked to witness to people. If he did not get a chance to tell people about his Lord on both the outward and inward journey Ken would be upset.  His happiest times were when he returned home with the names an addresses of people who had asked him to write to them.  Ken served as Chairman from 18th January 1999 to about 30th November 2006, when he resigned
