Are you all empty words?  Or do you mean what you say where the things of God are concerned?  I feel I am often too much like the younger Peter - saying things, but not seeing my promises to God through.

Jesus now senses that the Disciples are anxious and worried by what He has just said to them.  So He says, 1 "Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.  4 And you know the way where I am going."   John 14:1-4 (RSV) Put simply He says “Don’t worry.  I am going to Heaven to prepare a home for you to live in when you die.  When I have arranged for your home I will come and get you.  Then we can all be together for all Eternity.”   Then He says And you know the way where I am going.  If Judas’ exit got them worried, this statement certainly got them asking questions.

Let’s list the questions.

5 Thomas said to him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?"John 14:5 (RSV)

and

8 Philip said to him, "Lord, show us the Father, and we shall be satisfied."   John 14:8 (RSV)

On the one hand Thomas understands that Jesus is going on a journey

......but the flesh is weak.
